Foreign & Domestic Logistics Management
We have spent nearly twenty years managing logistics for our winery partners and building relationships with service providers along the way. We maintain an extensive network of partners in freight forwarding, warehousing, trucking (FTL and LTL), and other logistics services, selected with an eye towards the right combination of service and value. Our efficiencies as an organization, as well as our steady volumes, help us to negotiate favorable rates with our logistics partners – savings which we pass on to our portfolios. Effective logistics management comes down to experience and responsiveness. Our professional staff are skilled problem solvers, and with offices on both coasts we have staff available throughout the day to help troubleshoot any logistical issues that may arise – whether facilitating expedient release of wholesaler orders, arranging rush sample shipments for sales meetings, or liaising with freight forwarders and customs brokers to resolve import issues.
Full Container Loads & Ocean Freight
USA Wine West, LLC works closely with an international freight forwarder that specializes in wine transport to coordinate full containers, consolidated container loads (groupage) and airfreight shipments for importation from nearly any region of the world, at competitive and consistent rates.
Less than Container Load Shipping
USA Wine West operates its own, in-house consolidation service from several major wine producing countries, enabling our portfolios to supplement their full container business as needed to manage inventory levels and satisfy special orders. This service is more cost-effective than freight forwarder LCL programs and allows more flexibility and control to our portfolios.
Customs Clearance
Our San Francisco-based customs broker is an industry leader with over 150 years of experience. Whether the shipment arrives via ocean or air, in California, New York, Texas, Florida (or any other point of entry into the U.S.), their expertise and resources make 10 + 2 filing, FDA prior notice, customs clearance and freight release a seamless process.
Administrative Services
We provide comprehensive, efficient and tailored administrative services for all of our portfolios, focusing on the day-to-day details of the import and distribution business so they don’t have to. Our California office is the logistics center of our company, from which we process and invoice all wholesaler and retailer orders, manage inventory in multiple warehouse locations, arrange foreign and domestic freight service as well as import and customs clearance, and handle accounts receivable and collections. Our office in Maine manages accounts payable, including vendor and foreign supplier payments, along with a full range of compliance services, from label approvals to brand registrations to maintenance of federal and state licensing. For foreign wineries looking to establish a presence in the U.S., we provide critical “back office” support, as well as a centralized point of contact for suppliers, sales teams and customers. We manage the minutiae, helping our portfolios keep their eyes on the bigger picture of building a brand.
